PLANNERS

Amy Bright (@BrightTeacher) teaches fourth graders at Cibolo Green Elementary in San Antonio, Texas. She's taught many elementary grade levels and has yet to find one she disliked. She is eager to join other #nerdybookclub teachers and librarians on their learning journeys! Amy was a campus Trinity Prize for Excellence in Education winner in 2012. She was a campus Teacher of the Year winner in 2013. She has experience as a math specialist and was instrumental in bringing World Read Aloud Day to her campus. Teresa Garrett (@MWLibraryDiva ) is currently a librarian at Martin Walker in Copperas Cove ISD. She's followed the Nerdy Book Club and Donalyn Miller since NBC began: "I believe I have actually been a member my entire life I love books and reading and I cannot remember a time I couldn’t read." She's been teaching since 1978, but began her dream job as a school librarian in 1991. Before moving to Texas, she served as an officer in the local affiliate of the Arkansas Reading Association and was a runner-up for literacy leader of the South Arkansas Reading Council. She was nominated by her superintendent for Arkansas Teacher of the Year. She was one of ten finalists for the state and was recognized by the governor. Jodi Harris (@JodiHarris16)--is an 8th grade Reading and Advanced Contemporary Literacy teacher at Bush Middle School in San Antonio, Texas.  She is the co-moderator of the #neisdpln Twitter chat Monday nights at 7 central.  Jodi has taught since 2002 in Arkansas, Louisiana, and now Texas.  She taught high school English for grades 9-12 and AP Literature for 10 years before moving to middle school.  Her first foray into writing was as a contributing author of the 1st Grammarly Group Novel, The Lonely Wish-Giver which was written by more than 300 authors from 27 countries and (44 US states)."When I learned to read at age 4 it was a very funny occurance.  My aunt called my mom to tell her I was doing something.  She thought I was being my usual mischievous self, but I was reading my cousin's 2nd grade spelling book."  Jodi has her BSE from Southern Arkansas University and currently is pursuing her Masters in Educational Technology Leadership at Lamar University.  She can be contacted at jharri2@neisd.net. 

Kristina Herrera is a professional development coach for Pre-K for SA. She serves as adjunct faculty for Trinity University and is an experienced school administrator. She has a heart for serving teachers who can return to their classrooms feeling refreshed and motivated to teach children.

Irene Kistler (@IreneKistler) is the school librarian for Ed White Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. She is the 2015 Campus Teacher of the Year for Ed White Middle School and is the Northeast ISD 2015 Secondary Teacher of the Year. She is also the 2015 Region 20 Teacher of the Year and a semifinalist for the 2015 State of Texas Teacher of the Year. Her library is a 2014 recipient of the Laura Bush Library Grant. In 2012, she was a state finalist for Education Leadership for the HEB Excellence in Education Awards. In 2007, she was a campus Trinity Prize for Excellence in Education winner. When she is not peddling titles for kids to read, she is enjoying time as an empty nester with her hubby, Greg. She can be contacted at ikistl@neisd.net.
